As many of you know this February, I cut my long hair short. All in all, I probably chopped over eight inches! I hemmed and hawed over this decision for a long time because I do love my long hair. It can feel so beautiful and feminine especially when I style it. However, anyone with long hair can attest to just how much work it is. You also have to keep long hair really healthy to look good… and mine was not. You could definitely see how much damage there was at the ends from using hot tools. Oooph.
Once I Cut My Hair I Didn’t Look Back
But anyway once I chopped my hair short I did not look back for a second. I am really loving this blunt lob life. It’s so much easier to wear down on a daily basis which I love. I love how short hair looks with hats and I have so much fun styling my short hair.
Less Washes = Healthier Hair
When it comes to keeping your hair (long or short) healthy, something my hairdresser has taught me is the importance of not over washing. This is tough because my hair gets pretty greasy between washes. I also have been working out more recently and while I don’t get super sweaty in barre, it just speeds up the grease factor more.
Introducing My New Favorite Dry Shampoo
I’m so excited that I discovered this new to me brand Waterl<ss. They make dry shampoo and get this, dry conditioner for a variety of hair types and textures. For folks who aren’t familiar with the concept of dry shampoo, it’s a spray product you spray on your roots to help reduce the look and feel of greasiness between washes. AKA something I absolutely need as I’m trying to follow my hairdresser’s advice.
I’ve tried some different dry shampoos in the past. Some I like, some are meh. What I really love about Waterl<ss is that you don’t get that white residue on your hair that you get with most dry shampoos. It sprays on clear which is perfect, especially because I have dark roots.
About Waterl<ss
Waterl<ss was invented to help improve those in between wash days for a diverse set of hair types. In January 2018, while the team who created the product was ready to start testing, Cape Town, South Africa was having a huge water shortage. Waterl<ss provided a way for women to help keep their hair clean between wash days without using water.
As a fun way to celebrate all my short hair ladies, I wanted to share my 3 favorite ways to style my short hair in-between wash days. These are fun little hacks you can do honestly with any hair length, but I just find myself having more ease with styling when my hair is short.
3 Easy Ways to Style Your Short Hair In Between Washes with Waterl<ss
1. Side Clip
I got a super cute pack of clips from TJ Maxx. Just throw a clip through a small piece of hair near your face and pull it back behind your ear.
2. Headband or Scarf
Headbands are so fun for between washes. In fact, I think having slightly dirty hair is great for headbands so they don’t slip and slide off your head. The dry shampoo definitely helps with texture.
3. Silk Scarf Ponytail
Put your hair back in a low ponytail and tie the scarf around, letting it dangle. It’s a fun way to add some “length” back to your hair.
